Interview with Frederick Sundford, Freelance Journalist

What every real journo knows—and you [interviewer] know this too, I know you do—is that whatever you’re being told the “story” is, that’s never actually the real story at all. The things no one will tell you, the things you have to tunnel and excavate and dynamite the landscape to get near, that’s the story, always. And that’s why our relationship as colleagues is really vitally important, we need to maintain contact as colleagues, you can’t do all that digging alone.
