Q: Is being a DJ a vocation, a party, or a job?
A: Being a dj, all three of those things are true, it is my career. It is also my job as a promoter to throw parties even if I’m not DJing them. I’m a host of these parties and the first face they see when they walk in the door. I embrace everyone with love happiness and respect and make a point to get to know them especially if it’s a new face.
Q: When you play, how conscious are you of the audience?
I’m very aware of my audience. I like to dance with them and interact with them as I am playing. My audience is very queer and loving. I can happily say I know most of my audience here in Detroit closely.
Q: Where does music come from?
A: My music is inspired by classic Detroit music that spans decades. Artists like D Wynn and Stacey Hale, and many more have influenced in my sound. Our city has an overwhelming amount of talent, and many of them are very generous with advice and mentorship.
