To start with, I listened to a LOT of club music, with a special concentration on techno. And I researched the world’s favorite clubs and parties—from Berghain in Berlin to the history of London’s Shoom—with a hundred stops in between. Parties and clubs are where we let ourselves play, and play is what I did when I wrote this book. I’m still playing!
