That’s one of Max Caspar’s most cherished maxims (or Max-isms). It was first said by philosopher Jacques Maritain, who in 1901, according to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, “made a vow to commit suicide within a year should [he] not find some answer to the apparent meaninglessness of life.” And Max is serious too about finding an answer, his answer, the answer.
