Games offer complex sets of things to see and do, tasks, adventures, quests. Many games turn on a simple axis of power: collect the jewels, smash the walls, evade the monsters, shoot the shooters, get rid of all the bosses, establish your dominance. Power concentrated in one person, the player. Compelling, but ultimately sterile, solitary.
